Membership
LAT offers two types of membership:
A. DEALER MEMBER. This class of membership shall be open to all lumber and building material dealers.
A dealer with a single or multiple locations or places of business may obtain a Dealer Membership. The Board of Directors, by Resolution, sets the amount of dues for the Dealer Member category and is based on annual gross sales.
Each Dealer Member, who is in good standing, shall have one vote at any meeting of the Regular Members of the Association. Each Regular Member shall designate, in writing, each person who shall be entitled to exercise the voting privileges of each such membership.
A "lumber and building material dealer" is a sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation, or other business entity which is substantially engaged in the business of selling lumber or lumber and other building materials to consumers, property owners, or developers or their contractors or subcontractors. In order to be "substantially engaged" in such business, at least fifty-one per cent (51%) of the dealer's gross income at the location must be the direct result of sales of lumber and other building materials for incorporation into the construction of improvements to real property by consumers, property owners, or developers or their contractors or subcontractors. "Lumber and other building materials" shall mean those lumber products or other building materials which are sold by the dealer in substantially the same condition as when received by the dealer from his seller (that is, prior to fabrication or other significant modification).
B. ASSOCIATE MEMBER. This class of membership shall be open to all persons, sole proprietorships, partnerships, corporations, or other business entities which are not otherwise eligible for Dealer Membership and who meet any one of the following requirements:
1. Manufacturer/Wholesaler/Jobber/Broker Membership shall be open to all persons or business entities regularly engaged in the business of selling or brokering forest products or other building materials to those businesses eligible for Dealer Membership. This category shall be known as the "Wholesaler" Membership category.
2. Services Membership shall be open to all persons or business entities regularly engaged in the business of providing services to the Regular Membership.
If a business entity is eligible for Dealer Membership, it cannot be an Associate Member even though it also meets the requirements for Associate Membership.
Associate Members and their officers and full-time employees are eligible for appointment as members of any of the committees of the Association. An Associate member who is elected to the Board of Directors or appointed to a committee of the Association shall be entitled to the same voting privileges as a Dealer member elected or appointed to that same position.
Please reach out to Mireya Zapata if you are interested in a LAT membership.
