  • Identify and drive public policy agenda at the Texas Legislature
  • Lead & engage members in advocating for LBM industry 
  • Support and engage in federal advocacy and regulatory work via NLBMDA
  • ​Support members and industry when interacting with local governments and state agencies
*This is 100% policy work; our political work is led by LUMPAC a separate volunteer group within LAT with a different financing structure.​

LAT's 2025 Policy Priorities

These areas of focus were approved by the LAT Board of Directors on November 21, 2024.  We will update the agenda with our position on specific bills as they are filed for consideration during the 2025 session of the Texas Legislature.

​LAT Represents the Texas LBM Industry at the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board

LAT serves on the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board's Commissioner's Economic and Workforce Council.  The Council’s input helps inform and strengthen the Coordinating Board's ability to:
  1. Align its programs and products with the needs of employers and changing workforce trends;
  2.  Broker stronger relationships between employers and institutions of higher education; and
  3.  Advocate for policies and practices that enable learners to advance in their careers and meet demands of Texas employers
